Former Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) will be among the eminent legal personalities to be honored by the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Lagos Branch, during its Law Week which holds June 24-26 at the MUSON Centre.

According to the Law Week Committee: “One of the reasons for honoring Fashola is because he has always been one of us. He is a member of this branch and he responds whenever we call on him. Now we are welcoming him back.”

Former NBA President, Dr. Olisa Agbakoba SAN, is expected to chair one of the sessions, while Rtd. Justice Amina Augie will chair another session. The event would also host highly supportive and active Bar Elders to an Elders’ Nite in Ikoyi. Adding to the events for the Law Week, Vanguard Law and Human Rights gathered that high-octave all-comers Variety Nite/Karaoke/Cocktail Party would hold on June 26 to wrap-up the the event.

At a media briefing, the branch’s Law Week Committee said it was set to throw light on the challenges quacks and other practitioners pose to lawyers and the justice sector by infiltrating the legal profession. “The week will kick-off on June 24, 2015 at the MUSON Centre, Lagos with a Keynote Address on “The Future of the Legal Profession: Protection from Exploitation.

With over 30 confirmed Speakers/Panelists and Discussants comprising the cream of Nigeria’s legal profession, this year’s Law Week promises to be intellectually stimulating and professionally rewarding. The repertoire of break-out sessions are as encompassing as the topics, including sessions on Labour Law, Insolvency Law, Capital Market Practice, Tax Law and ADR/Simulation.

Some ‘unusual’ practice areas have been added to this rich collection, namely Medical Law and Media/Sport Law,” the committee added.
