The Catholic Archbishop of Metropolitan See of Lagos, Most Rev. Alfred Martins, has called on Nigerians to join forces with the political elites to end the scourge of corruption in the country.
Archbishop Martins, who made the statement at Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Amuwo-Odofin, Lagos State, during the liturgical dedication of the new church building, appealed to Nigerians to embrace a true change by adopting attitudinal change towards one another.
He said: “This is a time when our great country is looking forward to a great change. It is a time when all of us are expecting something greater that has happened before to happen again in our lives.
‘’I believe today we should in our own little communities make a pledge to God that we will be agents of positive change.
‘’As we are looking upon our new leaders to initiate and give a change, let us also remember that a change in our attitude to relationship with one another, the change in our attitude to our country, Nigeria, and the way we do things, all constitute the pledge we will make to God as we look forward to this new change.
‘’If corruption is going to come to an end, it is not only the leaders alone, but all of us will make an effort to overcome corruption.”
