A precast concrete technology described as fast-pace building system has been introduced into Nigeria’s construction industry as an initiative aimed at bridging the ever increasing housing deficit in the country. The automated precast concrete technology which is known globally for speedy housing construction, was presented by CTSR Group, a Nigerian company with franchise from Broad Homes Industrial International Co. Ltd, the promoters of the technology at the just concluded Lagos Architects’ Forum tagged LAGOS 6.0. The group is a subsidiary of Broad Homes Industrial International Co. Ltd.

Messrs UACN Property Development Company, UPDC PLC, last week, added to his rich property portfolio when it flagged off the construction of a N5 billion premium estate described as “a home by the sea” in the highbrow Lekki Peninsula in Lagos. Named James Pinnock Place, after one of the progenitors of UPDC, the estate which would be sited on three hectares of land, is the third phase of Pinnock Beach Estate development. The entire Pinnock Beach Estate scheme occupies 84.11 hectares of land in the Lekki axis.

ABUJA: The Federal Government disclosed last weekend that the 10 mega watt, MW, Katsina wind farm has attained 98 percent completion. The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Power, Amb. Godknows Igali, who said this in Abuja noted that the test running of the 37 turbines in the facility had since begun with five already successfully test-run. He also said the transmission line for the evacuation of the power to be produced is ready through the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, as confirmed by their officials.

ABUJA- THE President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), has been urged to consolidate on the success recorded in the mines sector as he takes over leadership of the nation on May 29. THE Igbo are a unique people in Nigeria. Yet, they have always held their heads high as a people with a culture of taciturn personality and reflective pride in their ethnic nationality. Mendicancy as a culture is an abhorrence among the Igbo. When it actually occurs, it is only reflective of a crack at the nexus of a particular extended family.

ABUJA: A Chinese company, Skyrun Meter Solution, said it has completed plans to establish an electricity smart-meter in the Free Trade Zone, FTZ, in Calabar, the Cross River State capital. This development was one of the fruitful results of several Memoranda of Understanding, MoUs, signed between the Ministry of Power and some Chinese companies since the successful privatisation of the power sector by the outgoing administration.
