Lagos State Government has organised the first exhibition of the State Research and Development Grant (LRDG) project on which a total sum of N142.3 million had already been disbursed by the council 31 projects from various fields of human endeavour aimed at promoting infrastructural development and economic growth in the country were on display at the event.

Lagos–Some residents of Ikorodu yesterday applauded the efforts of the Lagos State Police Command in reducing crime in the area. The residents had said they were usually robbed in daylight, particularly at the roundabout and at Benson Bus stop in Ikorodu during traffic jams. Some of the residents applauded the decline in the crime rate and confessed that they had been able to sleep in their homes at night without fear of robbery attacks.

Lagos—An Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos yesterday ordered that one Rotimi Abolarin,26, charged with the murder of a yet-to-be identified person, be remanded at the Ikoyi Prisons. Chief Magistrate Olatunbosun Abolarinwa gave the order adding that: “The advice of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPPs) need to be sought on this matter. “I, therefore, order that Abolarin should be kept at the Ikoyi Prisons for the next 30 days pending the DPPs’ advice.”

lagos—Justice Oluwatoyin Ipaye of an Ikeja High Court yesterday ordered that a 62-year-old medical doctor, Obinna Monagor, be remanded in prison over alleged fraudulent conversion of N13.5 million in a property deal. The remand order from the court was sequel to the inability of the accused to perfect his bail after he was arraigned by the EFCC on a one-count charge of stealing by fraudulent conversion.

fOR helping them to secure about 51 hectares of land around Mile 2 axis, the President, Association of Maritime Truck Owners, AMATO, Chief Remi Ogungbemi, has commended the Federal Government. The federal government had through the management of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and the Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC), made efforts to secure the land to ease the perennial traffic logjam in the state.

Since 2009, business operators, motorists and other road users of the Oshodi-Apapa expressway have continuously been subjected to untold hardship of perennial traffic logjam, caused by the activities of drivers of tankers, trailers and other articulated vehicles, who park indiscriminately along the road. But following a 48-hour ultimatum given by the Lagos State Government last Wednesday, for the truck drivers to vacate the road, officials of the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), whose duty is to handle public waste collection, disposal and clearance of backlog of waste, have moved in to clear the road of the mess caused by the truck drivers.
