Anu-on-her-Ekwe-
Nigerian musical scene has continued to witness new vibes, all wrapped up in artistic creative ferment, enjoying sleek reviews and huge following. Anu, otherwise known as D Lady Ekwe, has upped the ante with release of a 125-man cast video of her newest singles, Ur Omalicha Uwa.
Her musical video premiere, which held recently at the La Campagne Club, Ikeja, Lagos, was for many reasons an epoch making event. In terms of its creativity, it sets a new record in the Nigerian music industry with its 125-man cast, which is the first time any musical video would be employing such a huge cast.
Produced by Unlimited L.A Production under Atunda Entertainment, the video is beyond its leap in creativity as well as an audacious one, clearly setting the pace.
Ur Omalich Nwa is a story of love. It tells the undying and triumphant love of two lovebirds, a young maiden and a young lad, who despite the obstacles put in their way, endured the vilifications, proclaiming their love for each other.
The naturalness of the African themed resort with its lush and inviting greens, beach front, ocean and beautiful rural – like scenery, was a perfect location for Anu and her 125 man cast to tell a griping story of love in a very entertaining and creative manner.
Anu who is enjoying a rising profile in the industry for blending her singing talent well with her adept percussionist flavour for Ekwe, a traditional musical instrument, which ought to be men’s exclusive but which she has customized as her stage signature, was at her best, serenading and charming everyone with both her singing and performance prowess.
Ur Omalicha Nwa video is in every respect a good cut, with good story line, perfect location and perfect picture, good editing with the singing and acting blended together to produce what in years to come should be adjudged as one of the best flicks coming out of Atunda Entertainment which manages Anu.
The fact that it was well received by a mixed audience consisting of some high profile business executives and youths (most of whom were young artistes, fashionistas and elderly ones who have thronged the venue to enjoy an evening of live music, comedy, fashion show, DJ/dance, food and drinks) shows that there is a great future ahead of Anu and her brand of music.
