ASABA—A DELTA State High Court sitting in Asaba, yesterday, sacked the Prophet Jones Erue-led state executive of the All Progressives Congress, APC, describing the congress that brought him on board as illegal, null and void.
Delivering judgment in the suit filed by Chief Adolo Okotie-Eboh, challenging the conduct of the congress that brought Prophet Erue and his executive on board, trial judge, Justice Matthew Obi, said the congress held on April 26, 2014 breached the APC electoral guidelines.
Barring Prophet Erue and other members of his executive from parading themselves as Delta State executive of APC, the court ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to stop recognizing and dealing with Erue and his team.
The court ordered that a fresh congress be conducted to elect a new APC executive in Delta State.
Reacting to the judgment, Chief Okotie-Eboh said: “I believe that we have been vindicated because from day one, this is what we have said that the issue is that the congress was not properly conducted. Today (yesterday) we are happy that justice has been done.”
