Ogun State government has said the light rail project signed with Chinese Civil Engineering Construction Company, CCECC, last week was a contractor-financed arrangement, using long term development fund, which will open the state economy to massive investment and create employment opportunities for the youths.

A statement by Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Yusuph Olaniyonu, described the views expressed by the candidate of Peoples Democratic Party,  PDP, in the last governorship elections, Mr. Gboyega Isiaka, as a reflection of his world view.

It said: “We are surprised that Mr. Isiaka did not know about the proposed light rail until last week. We publicly signed the Memorandum of Understanding in 2013 so that the contractor could prepare the design for us.

“The design was in fact featured prominently in the 2014 state calendar and other publications of the state government.”
