WARRI — The people of Ogbe-Ijoh clan, Warri South-West Local Government Area, Delta State, under the aegis of Concerned Citizens of Ogbe-Ijoh Clan, yesterday, said that the recent claim by the president of Aladja community, Udu Local Government Area of the state, that his people were not obstructing the movement of building materials to Ogbe-Ijoh through Aladja, was a blatant lie.
The body, in a statement by its coordinator, Friday Deinghan, said: “Our attention has been drawn to media report wherein the president of Aladja community, Mr. Paulson Okobiebi, said that the people of Aladja have been religiously obeying the peace agreement entered into with the Delta State Government and Ogbe-Ijoh community.
“They denied stopping movement of building materials through Aladja to Ogbe-Ijoh. Instead, they alleged that it was Ogbe-Ijoh people that have stopped Aladja people from harvesting their crops.
“Mr. Okobiebi’s statement does not represent the position on the ground. The truth is that the Aladja people have permanently stopped movement of building materials through Aladja to Ogbe-Ijoh and in some cases, they have attacked visitors to Ogbe-Ijoh, thereby, constituting obstacle to commerce and industry to thrive in the area.”
