A Kado Grade 1 Area Court in Abuja on Wednesday sentenced a student, Usman Yakubu, to six strokes of cane for stealing a pair of sandals at a shop. Yakubu, who lives at Kado Estate, Abuja, was arraigned on a charge of theft. The judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, who handed down the verdict, said Yakubu was convicted following his guilty plea.
