The President-Elect, Muhammadu Buhari, said the result of Saturday’s presidential election declared by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) reflected the will of Nigerians. Buhari said this while delivering his acceptance speech on the 2015 presidential election at the National Headquarters of the All Progressives Party (APC) in Abuja. “ INEC has released the official results of the presidential election. INEC has declared that I gained the most votes with the required spread and thus won this election.

Former President Olusegun Obasnjo on Wednesday advised the President -Elect, Muhammadu Buhari, to demostrate magnanimity over his victory in the Saturday’s presidential election. Obasanjo gave the advice in abeokuta in his congratulatory message to Buhari. The former president noted that Nigeria’s political system was unnecessarily overheated by politicians.

Erstwhile Head of State, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari, was, yesterday, returned to power in a historic election that saw the first defeat of an incumbent president in the history of democratic rule in post-colonial Nigeria.

The 72-year-old won 15,424,921 votes or 53.95 percent of the 28,587,564 total valid votes cast.
