ABUJA — Ahead of tomorrow’s governorship and House of Assembly elections in states across the country, the Director General of National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Brigadier General Johnson Olawumi, has solicited for the continued protection of corps members participating in the conduct of the polls.
Olawumi made the plea when he paid an advocacy visit to the Commissioner of Police, lmo State command and the Commander 34 Artillery Brigade, Owerri, Imo State.
In a statement yesterday, by the NYSC Director of Press, in Abuja, the DG acknowledged the extra vigilance of security agents in the last presidential and National Assembly elections in ensuring the protection of corps members.
He said Corps members had done well by abiding with electoral laws.
He also pleaded with politicians to give peace a chance by talking to their supporters not to use any form of violence against Corps members serving their fatherland.
Addressing the Corps members at the parade ground of the 34 Artillery Brigade, the NYSC boss commended the Corps members for their conduct in the March 28 elections and urged them to brace all odds of violence, logistics shortcomings or threats and give in their best in the forthcoming gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections.
