Yenagoa—The kidnapped Chairman of Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, Mr. Enaye Abah, has been released after five days in captivity.
Abah was abducted in the early hours of last Wednesday along the Otuasega-Okarki express road by armed men on his way to a attend a political meeting at the council headquarters at Ogbia main town.
Vanguard learned that the abducted chairman was released Sunday at about 8.45pm by the kidnappers, who took him to their den in the deep mangrove swamp of Abua Odua axis of Rivers State.
Though it could not be immediately ascertained if any ransom was paid to secure his release, the chairman was said to have been abandoned at Ogonoko waterside in Abua Odua Local Government Area of Rivers State by his captors.
Contacted, Bayelsa State Police Command spokesman, Asinim Butswat, said Abah was abandoned by his kidnappers, following attempts by the special task force of the state anti-kidnapping squad to invade their hide out in the area.
He said though the sister to the victim had informed the police authorities of the ransom demanded by the kidnappers, none was paid.
The police scribe added that he was released in good condition of health.
