ABUJA — Former Anambra State governor, Dr. Chinwoke Mbadinuju, has asked President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, to tackle corruption head-on once  sworn-in on May 29.

Mbadinuju also said that religious intolerance among Nigerians should be looked into by the incoming government to halt the wave of divisions occasioned by the vice.

The former governor, who spoke to journalists in Abuja, said that Buhari’s victory was divine, having been favoured him on his fourth attempt at the presidency of Nigeria after three previous failed attempts.

He said: “Personally, I believe that Buhari’s victory is of God. If God was not in it, then he could not have won. I believe in acts of God. And anything we do in life, if it is good, it is God Himself who made it possible.

‘’Or you can begin to change and do it the way of God. So, it is a very beautiful development to have Buhari as the next President of Nigeria on May 29.

“Take corruption for instance, you know, he has been hitting on this issue of corruption and we are aware that President Jonathan shocked everybody when he said corruption is not the problem, but stealing.

‘’The incoming President has been hammering on corruption. I think that is what it should be. But whether it is corruption or stealing, I think these are vices that we should not allow.

“It is a good lesson in the sense that he lost his past bids because of this problem of religion, he missed it because he did not get enough votes. The same problem continued until he corrected himself.

‘’I believe that where he had made mistakes in the past, he was able to correct them this time around and that is why he won. It was very clear that it was the experience he had then that he applied this time around.”

Mbadinuju also asked Buhari to reform the education policies of the out-going government.

“Nothing gets swept when it comes to governing because it is a matter of relay race. What you do now, another person comes, it takes the baton, runs and gives to another person.

“In terms of education, we believe Jonathan tried but opposition must say what they want to say, good or bad. That’s the job of opposition otherwise they are not performing.
