Former Super Eagles coach Christian Chukwu has advised returning Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi, to avoid making the same mistakes that characterized his previous stint with the team.
‘Chairman’, as Chukwu is fondly called, said Keshi made a lot of mistakes with the team before, and must look to avoiding same mistakes this time.
“Keshi made a lot of mistakes in the past and now that he has returned I hope he had learnt from them,” said Chukwu. “It is not easy being the Super Eagles coach trust me and I know you make some mistakes.
“If you get the opportunity to return, you have to make things right. You have to avoid making same mistakes again because you may never have another chance, so he has to make sure he doesn’t fall the same place twice,” he admonished.
Chukwu, who coached the Super Eagles from 2002 to 2005, and led them to a bronze medal finish at the Tunisia 2004 Africa Cup of Nations, also says the task will seem harder now than it was the first time.
“Second chances are always difficult because now people are looking at you to see how you will fare, especially if you had some problems the first time. I wish him all the best and I hope he makes corrections.”
