Issues arising from last weekend’s field demonstration of the card reader may remain unsettled pending a definitive report on the exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

However, there are no doubts on the efficacy of the Permanent Voter Card, PVC, that has almost become a treasure in the consideration of many voters.

There were relatively no issues with the PVCs during the demonstration and virtually everyone in the political class is now adjusted to the fact that the PVC would be used during the election.

The campaign for the return to the Temporary Voter Card has also fallen flat and contestants would be expected to further push their campaigns for voters to pick up their PVCs.

Registration points

Remarkably, INEC has again pushed forward the deadline for the collection of the PVCs.

Those who had given up on collecting their PVCs still have an opportunity and should go to their registration points to pick their cards.

However, if the distribution of the PVCs has ended in your area, you could still pick up your card by going to the INEC Ward Centre of the area you registered to check out yours.

Voters who have registered can confirm the status of their registration by visiting the Voter status page on the INEC website http://inecnigeria.org/?page_id=2160

A potential voter can also check his or her status by sending an SMS with your State, Last name, Voter Identification Number (VIN) to 081-7164-6879.

Format: State, Last name, VIN.

Example: Lagos, Aziken, 12345

A response would be received within 15 minutes.
