KANO – The police authority Monday deployed hundreds of Counter Terrorism Operatives backed by dozens of Armored Personnel Carrier in strategic areas of Kano metropolis for visiting Vice president, Namadi Sambo.
Namadi Sambo is due in the city considered as a stronghold of Nigerian opposition group for a day official visit ahead of general elections.
Combat ready security agents have taken over controll of traffic on major roads as well dark spots within the city .
Kano based Human rights activist, Ahmad Muhammad Soron Dinki flayed the police for heighten tension over the visit, pointing out that “these measures are unnecessary and provocative”.
But, the police Image Maker in the state, ASP Magaji Musa Majia told Vanguard on phone that the upbeat on security was in connection with the visit of Vice president, Namadi Sambo.
ASP Magaji Musa Majia explain that “we enjoin the city dwellers to go about their legitimate business without fear of molestation and the steps we’ve taken was designed to ensure a hitch free visit”
Vanguard learnt that the Vice president while in Kano would visit and commission federal government sponsored project scattered around the metropolis.
