Elections: Heavy security at National Collation Center, environs
Security is tight at the International Conference Center (ICC), Abuja, venue of the collation and announcement of results of the March 28 Presidential Election. Military personnel and other security operatives have cordoned off the road leading to the center to present people from passing through. Vehicles were also diverted to other routes around the area. A portion of the Olusegun Obasanjo Way in Area 10 that leads to the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), FCT, is also manned by security personnel and motorists were forced to use one lane of the road.
Do not allow elections to divide us, Akume tells Benue people
Minority Leader in the Senate, George Akume, has appealed to Nigerians not to allow ongoing general elections to cause disaffection among them. Akume made the appeal on Monday in Makurdi, Benue, shortly after a meeting of political leaders in the state with the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof Istifinus Dafwang.
