ABUJA-NIGERIANS have been urged to resist temptation that may lead to post election violence, after the general election.

Executive Director, Guard Nigeria Project, Promise Amahah, made the call at a media briefing in Abuja, and said politicians and their supporters should eschew all form of violence instead express their grief at the electoral tribunals.

Amahah, who lamented the declining level of patriotism and love for country among Nigerians said it was imperative for both leaders and followers to demonstrate sense of patriotism for national integration and development.

He said:”Guard Nigeria Project is a noble non-governmental organisation, which comprise concerned and optimistic Nigerians across all ethnic divides and social strata, united by our common identity and love for our nation.

“As we go about during this general election, the polity has been greatly heated up and has also led to the recent exodus of Nigerians nationwide back to their respective places of origin.

“This situation is saddening and calls for prompt intervention on re-orientation and social engineering, which is part of our key mandate.

“Some Nigerians are using the current socio-economic imbalance to manipulate Nigerians against Nigeria during this period. We have become enemies of ourselves and our nation.

“For a paradigm shift to be achieved, we must become intolerant of the negative status-quo for whatever you tolerate stays at your address. We are no longer comfortable with the status-quo and Nigeria will no longer be the address of all kinds of vices during and after elections.”

He said that if Nigerians do not arise, they may never arrive at a better future, that Nigerians must arise to indeed arrive at a positive paradigm shift during the general elections.
