THE Technical Director of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, Navy Commodore Omatseye Nesiama has distanced himself from the annual Okpekpe Road Race, denouncing recent media reports associating him with the high paying race.
Speaking with Sports Vanguard, the AFN chieftain said, “I have no hand in the Okpekpe Race and nobody should associate me with it.
“I did not talk to anybody. What was reported about me was the figment of the imagination of the reporter. I never said what was reported about me.”
The Navy Commodore said the nearest he had worked with organisers of the Okpekpe Race was in the first edition and after that we had our differences and I walked away. I have nothing against them. I’m a man of my words and cannot turn around to eat my words. I insist that I have nothing to do with the Okpekpe race’’, Nesiama concluded.
