WARRI—NIGER DELTA leaders and Civil Society Organisations, CSOs, will converge, Saturday, in Warri, Delta State, to discuss the political relevance of the region and fine tune strategies for the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan. It was gathered that Delta State is already agog for the summit, as the belief of the leaders and groups is that Niger Delta would not be cowed to give up the presidency.

Director, Mobilization and Campaigns, Niger Delta Political Leaders and Civil Societies Forum, Mr. Okeh Erieh, in a statement, said that the mass mobilisation for Dr. Jonathan’s 2015 presidential election victory will be chaired by a former Delta State chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Mr. Pius Sinebe.

He said: “Let those who are hiding under the fictitious philosophy of the so-called change wait till 2019. We believe in equity and indeed, President Jonathan should be supported to complete his constitutional mandate of two terms unequivocally.”

President Jonathan is expected at the event, while Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan is the special guest of honour. Senator Emmanuel Aguariavwodo, Sir Tom Amioku and Olorogun David Edevbie are the chief hosts. Mr Michael Diden and ex-militant leader, Chief Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, will serve as special patrons and special leader of the event. The keynote speakers are Professor G.G. Darah, Professor Kimse Okoko and the PDP governorship candidate in the state, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa.
