OWERRI—Umuokoroma, Umungwa, in Obowo Local Government Area of Imo State has been thrown into confusion and grief, following the death of Mr. Japheth Okafor, two days after choosing a date for his mother’s funeral.

Vanguard gathered that Japheth, the only surviving son of Mrs. Patricia Okafor, came home from his base in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, concluded the funeral arrangement and went back.

A villager, who pleaded anonymity, recalled that Japheth, a father of two, was hale and hearty before he left for Port Harcourt, adding that they received the shocking news of his death two days after, adding that the deceased lost his only brother last November.

The villager said: “This is one death too many. It is a triple tragedy. We are yet to ascertain the real cause of his death.”

A female resident of the community recalled that “the story we received concerning his death, was the same as that of his elder brother, who died few months ago.”

Close family sources told Vanguard that mother and child would be buried the same day, while efforts made to reach the widow for comments failed.
