ABAKALIKI—Ebonyi State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP governorship candidate and Deputy Governor, Engr. Dave Umahi, yesterday explained that the meeting which held in Abuja concerning the political situation in the state ended very well.

Recall that President Goodluck Jonathan had yesterday summoned the state governor, Martin Elechi; Secretary to Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim and the PDP governorship candidate for the state, Engr. David Umahi, as well as some PDP leaders to a meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, to address the political situation in the state

The meeting, which lasted over five hours, also had in attendance Vice President Namadi Sambo and some PDP governors, led by chairman of their forum  and Akwa Ibom State Governor, Obong Godswill Akpabio, Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State and his Benue counterpart, Gabriel Suswam.

Briefing newsmen at the Divine Mandate Campaign Organization office in Abakaliki, the PDP governorship candidate stated that the meeting was aimed at amicably resolving the current political tension in the state, emphasizing that Ebonyi would remain a PDP state against all odds.
“We are still talking and we will continue to talk; what we are looking for is amicable resolution; to live and let’s live.

“It will be difficult in any state to totally get there in totality, it means we are not totally there; there is no state in the federation you will say that during election that things are totally sorted out.
“There will still be few issues to handle. The important thing is that we are still talking,” the deputy governor said.

On the rescheduling of Dame Patience Jonathan’s visit to the state, Umahi revealed that the wife of the President who had other engagements, would still visit Ebonyi at a more convenient time.

Sources close to the party revealed that the meeting was rescheduled for Friday this week as issues raised during the meeting did not favour the embattled governor of the state.
