PORT HARCOURT—All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State, has denied allegations by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, that the governorship candidate of the APC, Dr. Peterside Dakuku and other chieftains of the party were behind the attack on the PDP governorship campaign rally in Bakana, Degema Local Government Area of the state, on Saturday.

Director, Communications of the Greater Together Campaign Organisation of the APC governorship candidate, Mrs Ibim Semenitari, in a statement, accused the PDP of stage managing the attack on its rally in Bakana, saying that it was a ploy to divert Police investigation of the disrupted APC rally in Okrika recently.

She said: “PDP must have envisaged that ongoing police investigation into armed attacks, assassination of APC supporters and members and other politically-motivated violence in Rivers State would turn in a damaging indictment on it, and so as a diversionary tactic to misdirect the police, had stage-managed the said Bakana attack.”

She described allegation by the PDP that the Dakuku and others were behind the attack in Bakana as “tissues of lies and a libellous provocation.”
