
Gbenga Bareehu Ashafa

Senator Gbenga Ashafa, representing Lagos East Senatorial District, has donated science laboratories to Isheri Grammar School in Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area, LCDA, of Lagos State to upgrade education of the youths.
Ashafa, who represents Lagos East senatorial district, said while commissioning the constituency project scheme, that the building was one of the 98 constituency projects he sponsored in the senate to boost education and technology in his district.
Ashafa, who was received by the school teacher,s led by the principal, Mr Alasan Yakubu, said: “Providing access to quality education remains our top priority. Personally, I am committed to giving our children the best to boost their morale and interest in education. “This gesture is one of the education empowerment programmes we have executed in our constituency.
“In some schools, we have initiated lofty programmes, including the famous “Back-to-School” initiative, which provides writing materials, sets of mathematical instruments, textbooks, school bags and uniform to our children, building of three classroom blocks in our public schools and so on”.
Ashafa said he would continue to make education attractive to the young, noting that his educational intervention, including school fees for the indigents, had increased basic school enrolment in the district.
He said the Gbenga Ashafa Trust Endowment, GATE, a private charity, remained dedicated to alleviating the challenges of people.
Ashafa urged the school management to maintain the facility, and advised the pupils to make good use of the labs.
Responding, Lagos Commissioner for Education, Mrs Oladunjoye Olayinka, who was represented by the Tutor-General, Education District II, Mrs Solarin Titilayo, lauded the timely initiative of the lawmaker for the kind gesture towards educational development.
