Awka — The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Anambra State last night demanded the cancellation of Saturday’s presidential and national assembly elections to make room for the use of card readers in conducting the exercise.
Senatorial candidate of APC for Anambra central and former governor of the state, Senator Chris Ngige told reporters in Awka that it was an irony that card readers that worked in most parts of the country failed to work in Anambra State, adding that it was part of the rigging plan by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to do what the party is well known for.
Ngige said: “Jega should cancel the election in Anambra and give us smart card guided election. Anambra has been known to be the hub of election rigging and we cannot allow this continue
“The election has been very peaceful in most parts of the country and we also want peaceful, free and credible election in Anambra State.”
The APC chieftain said that he was aware that voting was reopened in places where elections were held on Saturday, adding that the idea was to give room for the padding of figures as the result of the election from the various wards.
