6 in police net for robbery

POLICE in Lagos have arrested six members of a notorious robbery gang that had been terrorizing motorists, pedestrians and residents around Amukoko canal in Ajegunle.

The suspects, who allegedly parade themselves as “Akamayi boys”, attack and rob residents and commuters in broad day light.

The suspects, identified as Adewuli Rilwan, Sadiq Adebayo, Yusulf Sulieman, Sadiq Garuba and two others (names unknown), were arrested after the police received a tip off that the gang was unleashing terror on residents in the community, dispossessing innocent motorists and residents of their valuables.

Vanguard gathered that the bandits, who were armed with machetes and broken bottles, caused commotion in the commu-nity as they engaged in street fighting, looting shops as well as laying ambush in different areas of the community to attack unsuspecting residents.

A community leader Alfa Rasheed, the suspect had been torns in the flesh of community.

He said they attacked and robbed residents and commuters, causing commotion in the area so they can loot shops and rob residents.

It was learned that the suspects, who were arres-ted by Amukoko Divisional Police Station, would soon be charged to court.
