UGHELLI— A combined team of Ughelli Vigilante outfit, nicknamed Bakassi, and policemen, yesterday, killed the Vice Chairman of Oteri Community Executive in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State on the allegation that he was the brain behind series of cult-related killings in Ughelli and its environs.

The suspect, identified as Dennis, alias Erhio, had been on the wanted list of security agents in the area and was said to have been operating under the guise of the community executive.

According to an executive of vigilante outfit, who spoke on condition of anonymity, Dennis, whose remains were taken to the community town hall, was killed during a gun duel with police officers and members of the vigilance group.

Contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Celestina Kalu, said she was yet to be briefed on the incident.
