Presidential Poll: Edebiri can’t speak for Binis, says Eholor

By Gabriel Enogholase

BENIN—THE Esogban of Benin kingdom, Chief David Edebiri, has been warned to desist from using his chieftaincy position as the Odionwere of Benin to speak on behalf of the Binis on who to vote for in next month’s presidential election since he is a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

President of One Love Foundation, a non-governmental organisation, Chief Patrick Eholor, also the Enobore of Ute Kingdom, who gave the warning while addressing journalists in Benin, yesterday, said Chief Edebiri has no moral right to speak for the Binis since the Binis, as enlightened people, can decide on who they wish to vote for during the elections.

He was reacting to a media interview by Chief Edebiri that the Binis would not vote for President Jonathan because he removed the former Minister of State (Works), Engr. Chris Ogiemwonyi, and gave full ministerial appointment to his estranged wife, Princess Stella Odua, from Anambra State.

It will be recalled that last week, a group, Edo United for Transformation, debunked Edebiri’s claim, insisting that the Binis will troop out enmass to vote for the President’s re-election.
