Ibadan—Two pressure groups, the Dynamic Yoruba Youth, DYY, and an Abuja-based Youth Initiative for Social Change, YISC, yesterday celebrated former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s exit from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Obasanjo, on Monday, dumped the party and tore his membership card just as the Ogun State chapter of the PDP expelled him.

Commending the Ogun chapter party for expelling Obasanjo, the DYY, in a statement issued in Ibadan, Oyo State and signed by its General Coordinator, Oluwatosin Ajibade, said Obasanjo’s exit   is good riddance to bad rubbish. The group wondered how the party had tolerated him for so long, considering his anti-party activities which it said were clearly inimical to PDP’s progress not only in the South-West but across the country.

In like manner, the YISC in a statement by its Co-ordinator, Adetola Omu, condemned Obasanjo’s ‘’ungentlemanly conduct of tearing the PDP membership card. We were shocked and embarrassed beyond words over what Baba Obasanjo did.”
