UMUAHIA—The Federal Government has provided N8 billion to take ownership and sustain the drive against HIV/AIDS.

Consequently, SURE-P is to take over structure of state chapters of National Aids Control Agency, NACA.

Though foreign donors are not completely withdrawing from the project, they wanted Nigeria to take ownership and sustain the programme, in view of dwindling global economy.

Consequently, Nigeria has, through SURE-P, taken over the state structures of National Aids Control Agency, NACA, the agency in-charge of the awareness fight against the dreaded disease.

As part of the arrangement to the ownership take-over, a stakeholders’ meeting on NACA/SURE-P HIV and AIDS project implementation was held in Umuahia last week to prepare ground and discuss the SURE-P take over of the NACA structures in Abia and other state billed to take effect on March 31, 2015.
