Cleric slams Amaechi over alleged N7bn largess

CALABAR—BISHOP Simeon Okah, National Vice President, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, has called on Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State and all those behind the allegation that Christian leaders in the country were given N7 billion naira, to shut up and stop making such claims before they incur the wrath of God on themselves.

Bishop Okah, who stated this in Calabar, Cross River State, at the inauguration of the Cross River State chapter executive of PFN, said it was not true that the Federal Government gave Christian leaders in the country N7bn to curry the support of the clergy men for President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2015 elections.

He said: “When I read the report, I called Dr Okoye who was the Aso Rock Pastor when Chief Olusegun Obasanjo was president, to find out the veracity of the newspaper reports and he said it was not true. I call on those making the allegation to prove their case or repent before they incur the wrath of God on themselves.”

He stated that Amaechi, if he is a Christian that he claims to be, knows the implication of making such allegation against people who are his spiritual leaders. “This issue is beyond politics and I thought that Amaechi, who is a Christian, knows the implication of making such allegation and I call on him to name the people the money was given to or shut up.”
