PORT HAR-COURT— COMMANDER 2 Brigade, Port Harcourt Barracks, Brigadier- General Koko Essien, has assured that the army will continue to assist in the security of lives and property in the Niger Delta region.

Brigadier General Essien gave the assurance when he paid a courtesy visit to the Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Mr Bassey Dan-Abia.

He said the army will assist in providing the needed security for the NDDC to achieve development goals in the region.

Brigadier General Essien, who is also Commander, Sector II of the Joint Task Force, JTF, lauded the warm relationship between his command and the NDDC.

He said: “We recognise the developmental activities of the NDDC and we also know that some people may be trying to hamper the efforts of the commission. However, I assure you that we will give you all the necessary security cover you need to continue to serve the people of the Niger Delta without hindrance.”
