3 docked over robbery

Three persons have been charged before an Ikeja magistrate’s court in Lagos for allegedly robbing one Segun Akinbode of his cash, while armed with gun and other dangerous weapons.

They include Fatai Olorunoje, 43; Azeez Salami, 23; and Taiwo Karimu, 37.

According to the charge, the accused robbed Akinbode of N300,000 at Mushin area of the state.

They were arraigned by the police on a two-count charge.

One of the counts read: “That you Fatai Olorunoje, Azeez Salami, Taiwo Karimu and others now at large on December 20, 2014 at about 8pm at Mushin area of Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, whilst armed with gun and other dangerous weapons, did rob N300,000, property of one Mr. Segun Akinbode.”

The prosecutor, Inspector Eranus Nnamonu, informed the court that the offence was punishable under Section 1 (2) (a) (b) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 1990, as amended.

Magistrate Abimbola Komolafe did not grant the accused bail, but adjourned the matter to March 19.
