ABAKALIKI — THE embattled Ebonyi State Chairman of Progressive Peoples’ Alliance, PPA, Prince Samuel Uche Udeogu, weekend, insisted that no amount of plot by those he described as enemies of progress, could remove him as Chairman of the party.
The Chairman who made the statement in Abakaliki, emphasised that the National Working Committee, NWC, of the party only had the right to dissolve an appointed State Executive Committee, SEC, but not an elected SEC by the state congress of the party, supervised by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Abuja.
According to him, any attempt by an individual or group of persons to foist a governorship candidate on the party would be resisted as the party had already endorsed a candidate which would soon be made public.
Recall that the NWC of the party had on December 19, 2014 dissolved the state executive of the party in the state.
But Udeogu said: “The purported action, indeed contravenes articles 9(13)(I), 11(30)(I) and 12(I) (ii) and (iii) of PPA constitution. We are in a democratic governance and PPA Ebonyi State Chapter under me cannot allow any other organ of the party to wrongfully dictate to us in a matter that is clearly spelt out in our constitution.
“Furthermore, any person parading himself/herself as PPA candidate without recourse to the SEC led by me is as good as not vying for any elective position in the party and we shall not hesitate to stop such so-called candidate via legitimate means.
“INEC is in a better position to educate them as to who is the authentic Chairman of PPA in Ebonyi State. PPA NWC can only dissolve an appointed executive committee and not an executive elected by the state congress of the party supervised by INEC representatives from Abuja and Ebonyi. “
