It’s too late to fish for another candidate in Rivers —Elders C’ttee

By Davies Iheamnachor

PORT HARCOURT—Rivers State Elders Reconciliation Committee has called on all the aggrieved members, chieftains and elder statesmen of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state for urgent unity and reconciliation ahead of the forthcoming general elections, saying that it was too late for the party to fish for another candidate to fly its flag in the state.

The elders, drawn from the 23 local government areas of the state, who spoke in Port Harcourt, yesterday, appealed to all genuine and patriotic members of PDP and indigenes of Rivers State to close ranks and work together as one united family in order to be victorious in the elections.

The elders who described Chief Nyesom Wike as a child of necessity, said that the ultimatum given by some elders of the party was not in the interest of democracy.

The elders said Wike should be allowed to win the election, stressing that rotation of the governorship seat will be effective after Wike’s tenure.
