ASABA—PUBLICITY Secretary of the Delta State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Mr. Deinghan Macaulay, yesterday, said the anti-democratic disposition of the opposition parties and their non-recognition of President Goodluck Jonathan‘s laudable achievements were the fertile ground for the party’s victory in the forthcoming general elections.
Macaulay, who addressed newsmen in Asaba, said “Jonathan’s achievements in roads construction, the rebasing of the nation’s economy as the best in Africa, attracting investors and the conduct of free and fair elections in Ekiti and Osun States deprived the opposition parties viable means of criticising the president.
He said, The unfounded criticism of the opposition parties are indirectly campaigning for the President and come February, the electorate shall reward the PDP with another four years at the national and state levels.”
Describing Jonathan as a democrat, who do not stop the opposition party from winning elections in Edo and Osun states, he said; “He is an apostle of free and fair elections.”
Naming some of the achievements of Jonathan to include the two automobile industries in Nnewi and Lagos, the building of 61,000 housing units in the six geo-political zones and the upgrading of the Almajiri schools, Macaulay advised Nigerians to keep faith with the Jonathan’s administration by voting him in the February presidential election to enable him implement the resolutions of the recently concluded National Conference.
On the statement credited to the deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC, one Frank Timi, that Niger Delta people were not behind Jonathan, Macauley said, “That is the greatest joke of the century.”
