Yuletide: Mobile court convicts 18 drivers over traffic offences in Ilorin

ILORIN—The Mobile Court of the Federal Road Safety Corps Kwara State Sector Command Ilorin- Ajase-Epo road has convicted Eighteen drivers for contravening traffic rules, while three others were cautioned.

The Mobile Court is meant to prosecute road traffic violators in the State in order to stem the tides of road traffic crashes and achieve Operation Zero Tolerance to Road Traffic Crashes during the yuletide celebration in Kwara State.

The Sector Commander Corps Commander Mary Wakawa who disclosed this in an interview with journalists in Ilorin yesterday cautioned and discharged drivers for committing various traffic offences ranging from seat belt, overloading, safety helmet and others.

Wakama reiterated that the exercise would be a continuous one and further warned all road users in the State to desist from other offences like dangerous driving, over loading with passengers and goods, over speeding, using of cell phone while driving, under age driving, driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, non-use of crash helmet, use of worn out tyres and others.

She said that any offender caught will be arraigned before the Mobile Court that will be sitting all through the celebration period adding that road side camps have being erected in Olooru, Bode saadu and Omu-aran.

The Sector Command also hinted that she has deployed six hundred (600) staff to control traffic, conduct rescue activities, and enlighten members of the public in Churches and Mosques.
