Youths denounce result of Rivers PDP senatorial primaries

By Jimitota Onoyume

PORT HARCOURT— Ekpeye youths have described the Rivers West senatorial primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as a sham, threatening not to vote for the party in the 2015 governorship poll.

President-General, Ekpeye Youth Congress, EYC, Emenike Uriah, in a statement yesterday, reaffirmed the resolve of the people of the area to vote for President Goodluck Jonathan, adding that they were satisfied with his transformation agenda.

He said: “The Ekpeye Youth Congress is fully in support of President Jonathan. We will give him 100 percent vote in Ekpeyeland because of the success of his transformation agenda and our conviction that the Presidency should remain in the South South for a second term.”

The youths, who reaffirmed their support for the senatorial ambition of former deputy speaker, House of Representatives, Mr Chibudom Nwuche, accused former governor of the state, Dr. Peter Odili and the governorship candidate of the PDP, Mr. Nyesom Wike, of allegedly frustrating Nwuche’s senatorial ambition.

“We, therefore, warn that Ekpeye youths will vote against the PDP governorship candidate and other PDP candidates in the 2015 general elections, except in the presidential election, should Nwuche not fly the Rivers West senatorial district flag for 2015 general elections,” they said.
