
Al-Makura

LAFIA—Governor of Nasarawa State and governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Tanko Al-Makura, has named Mr Silas Agara as his running mate for the 2015 governorship election in the state.
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP’s, governorship candidate in state, Alhaji Yusuf Agabi has also picked Mr. John Matthew, an Abuja-based legal practitioner as his running mate in the same election.
These were contained in two separate statements in Lafia, the state capital, weekend.
A statement signed by Al- Makura’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Yukubu Lamia said that the choice of Agara was made after a meeting of party leaders and other governorship aspirants in the just concluded primary elections, as a way of reconciling all interest groups ahead of the general elections.
Agara, who is the Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development in the state, hails from Akwanga Local Government. He would replace the present Deputy Governor, Mr Dameshi Luka, who defected to the opposition, PDP, early this year if both of them win the forthcoming election.
Meanwhile, the PDP, also, said that Mathew was picked as running mate to Alhaji Yusuf Agabi, after a state-wide consultations with PDP stakeholders in the state.
