A 53-year-old man, Emmanuel Adeola, was, yesterday, arraigned before an Ota Magistrate’s Court in Ogun State, for allegedly issuing a dud cheque.
The accused is facing a two-count charge of fraud and forgery.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Itaita Ebibomini, said the accused committed the offence on September 24, at Afobaje in Ota.
He said Adeola fraudu-lently converted 15,000 litres of kerosene, worth N1.9 million, belonging to one James Olawuyi to his personal use.
According to him, the accused forged a fund transfer form of Zenith Bank and also issued a dud cheque to deceive the complainant that he had paid the money.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Titi Bello, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till January 7, 2015 for hearing.
