Why I’m in senatorial race — Umeh

By Vincent Ujumadu

Awka — THE senatorial candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, for Anambra Central for the 2015 election, Chief Victor Umeh, has met with traditional rulers in the zone, informing them that his reason for going into the race is to give a strong voice to Igbo and fight for their interest.

Addressing the monarchs at the palace of the traditional ruler of Ifitedunu, in Dunukofia Local Government area, Igwe Emeka Ilouno, during the consultative visit, Umeh explained that his main reason for going into the race was to contribute his quota in the fight against the marginalization of Igbos.

Umeh was accompanied on the visit by the traditional ruler of Agulu, Igwe Innocent Obodoakopr, the regent of Aguluzigbo, his community, Chief Hyacinth Onwuneme and former vice chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Professor Pita Ejiofor.

According to him, Igbos had continued to suffer marginalization in the Nigerian project which became apparent during the just concluded national conference where, he said it was resolved that the people of the South East should be given additional state to bring them at par with other zones.
