UMUAHIA—IMMEDIATE past Minister of Labour and Productivity, and leading Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship aspirant in Abia State, Chief Emeka Wogu, yesterday, said he would create 200,000 jobs annually through the agriculture sector and that in the next four years, the state would have created 800,000 jobs.
He promised massive investments in agriculture, housing, road rehabilitation and power sector, if elected governor in 2015.
Speaking at a town hall meeting with the people of Abia North senatorial zone at Ohafia, Wogu said his agenda was to better the living standard of residents through purposeful governance and transparency.
According to him, the experience garnered as a former council chairman, special adviser to governor, commissioner in the revenue commission and minister, placed him at a vantage position to appreciate the problems of the state than other aspirants.
The former minister also promised to upgrade cities such as Aba, Ohafia and Arochukwu through massive road rehabilitation and building of housing estates and farm settlements to improve food production.
He said: “If I become governor, it will be well with Abia North. I will build roads because we need a robust road network.”
He promised to borrow President Goodluck Jonathan’s agricultural sector reforms, noting that areas of the state with comparative advantage in agriculture would be encouraged to provide more jobs for the people.
