LAGOS—Property were, Monday night, destroyed by fire at Ijesha area of Lagos State.
Though no life was lost, occupants of the affected building, situated at 221, Ijesha Road, Agunlejika, were rendered homeless, as the building was completely razed.
The occupants wept openly as they watched all they had laboured for go up in the inferno that started around 2.30p.m.
It was learned that the fire started from an air conditioner in one of the rooms in the one-storey building due to a surge in power supply.
One of the occupants of the building, who identified himself as Segun, said he was in church when he got a call from his neighbour that his house was on fire.
He appealed to government and individuals to come to their aid.
Another eyewitness, who did not disclose his name, said he knew when the fire started and tried to put it out but failed as he and his boys could not access the building.
He said fire fighters from Ijesha Fire Service arrived the scene very late.
