Akpowowo, Oharisi, Mariere win PDP state Assembly ticket in Delta

By Festus Ahon

ASABA—IMMEDIATE past youth leader of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Delta State, Olorogun Arthur Akpowowo, has been declared winner of the House of Assembly primaries in Ethiope East Local Government Area with 50 votes to defeat the incumbent, Mr Joseph Oshevire, who polled nine votes.

Similarly, Prince Eric Oharisi and Mr Sam Mariere were also declared winners in Ughelli North II and I respectively.

Meanwhile, three of the four aspirants of the PDP House of Assembly primary election in Ethiope East, have warned against announcement of any result as there were no primaries in the council.

Reacting, Olorogun Akpowowo said the election was peaceful, free and fair.

Describing the petition against him as the handiwork of those who lost election and refused to accept defeat, Akpowowo said his victory was earned having served the party and was on ground in the last eight years.

The petitioners, including the incumbent occupier of the seat, Mr Joseph Oshevire, Mr Enamuotor Blessing and Chief Godwin Demide, on behalf of themselves and all delegates, said: “This is to draw your attention to the abortion of the primary election in Ethiope East state constituency of Delta State. This is as a result of the admission by the Returning Officer that he did not come with original result sheet which angered the delegates who called for the postponement of the primary election upon production of a result sheet for the election.

“We call for a fresh date for the primary election,” they said.
