By Kelechukwu Iruoma

THE Chancellor of the University of Ilorin and Dein of Agbor Kingdom, Dr. Benjamin Ikenechukwu has tasked the Federal Government on the present level of funding for universities in order to attain excellence in the sector.

The Monarch who spoke at the 30th Convocation ceremonies of the institution, where 6,329 graduating students were convoked commended the government’s effort towards funding education, pointing out that the restoration of the sector would bear little fruit unless the government improves on the present level of funding in the universities.

The Chancellor who noted that the University was recently ranked the best in Nigeria said it is determined to be the number one University in Africa, stating that the institution remains committed to the high ideas of academic excellence and sound moral rectitude for both staff and students. He however pointed out that “university administrators require more than brain and brawn in order to achieve success and create goodwill among stakeholders, stating that “they must possess a lot of tolerance, great patience and understanding to accomplish the enormous responsibilities entrusted on them”.
