NBL commissions 80-seater library in Emotan College, Benin

AN eighty-seater library built, equipped and donated to Emotan College Benin by Nigerian Breweries Plc has been commissioned by the management of the company.

Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of NBL , Mr. Nicolaas Vervelde while commissioning the project said the aim of embarking on the project was to address the infrastructural challenges in the education sector.

“It is part of the commitment to the development of education in Nigeria, and it represents our modest identification with the efforts of the state government to improve the quality of learning in Edo State”

The Managing Director, who was represented by Mr. Kufre Ekanem, the Corporate Affairs Adviser of the NBL, disclosed that the project worth millions of Naira, was funded by the Nigerian Breweries/Felix Ohiwerei Education Trust Foundation set up in 1994 to anchor its support for education in Nigeria.

The Fund he said has over the years been very active in supporting the course of education and learning in the country across all levels and regions.

He listed some of the projects undertaken to include; infrastructural upgrade in institutions of higher learning, donation of computers, laboratories, school blocks, institution of Book prizes, as well as sponsorship of the National Reading Competition and recently a career guidance and counseling programme known as Beyond the School, for secondary school students.

He promised that the NBL will continue to support the development aspirations of the state and identify with it in various ways.
