The recent adoption of Dr Uche Ogah by the Umu Ada Nkwa Ngwa socio cultural organization as the preferred candidate for the governor of Abia state in 2015 is indeed the right choice by the women of Abia state. Going forward, the women folk in God’s own state have taken the lead in opting for a proven and result- orientated leadership for the state.

Abia people are worried that among the South East and South South states Abia lags behind in development. And this has been attributed to poor governance. And from all indications the so called zoning of the office of the governor may plunge the state into further mismanagement.

The questions every Abian should be asking as 2015 draws nearer are; what kind of leader do we need? Do we need one who will spend greater part of his tenure serving the bidding of his god fathers? Is he one who yield to sentiments of his own people only? Is he one who will spend more time fighting perceived enemies than over seeing developments?

Dr Ogah has distinguished himself in the area of industrial development if only one can city the ALSA Industrial city which he established in his native Isikwuato Local Government in 2013. Nearing 80% completion, the complex is expected to provide jobs for over 42,000 Nigerians, grow the Abia state economy by 23-30% annually in the next five years and open up the state to local and foreign investment. That is purpose-driven capacity building.

Abia state can tap from the vision of this man. The general election next year should elicit change in the assessment of what good governance is in Abia State. And Dr Oga parades the business credential that Abia needs to stand out among the performing states in Nigeria.
