Lagos—Senator Oluremi Tinubu, wife of national leader of All Progressive Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu, has charged stakeholders in the nation’s education sector to work together to revive it in the collective interest of all.

She gave the charge in Lagos shortly after she was invested with African Education Monitor’s Award. She added that the rot in the sector could be traced to some past leaders, who held it with levity during their days in office.

Senator Tinubu said: “If all hand can be on deck, and all stakeholders work together, all input in education sector will yield the result everybody is yearning for.

“Neither government nor private individual can do it alone; what education sector in Africa requires is for every stakeholders to work together to achieve our goal.

“I consider this award as great honour and also as a motivation to do more in my quest to improve the standard of education in Nigeria and Africa as whole.

“I will continue to work with all the necessary stakeholders to make sure our dream come to reality for Africa.”

Also speaking at the event, the organizer and Publisher of African Education Monitor magazine, Oludaisi Adetarami, said what the country was experiencing in the education sector was not limited to the country alone, stating that other African countries were also suffering from same.

He said that part of the challenges, such as underfunding on the part of government, ineptitude on the part of teachers and instructors, incorrect curricular content, manpower shortage, inadequate quality assurance mechanism and brazen systemic corruption, were clearly the bane of the education sector in many Africa countries.
