The Lagos State Police Command on Monday announced the arrest of a suspected kidnapper, Aminat Akanni, rescuing a seven-year-old boy from her.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP.  Kenneth Nwosu, in a statement said that the suspect was arrested by the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) on Oct. 12 at 10:30 a.m.

The statement said that the arrest followed a report by one Moshood Mubo of No. 305 Church St., Lagos Island at the Adeniji Adele Police Station that two of his children were missing.

It added that the children were rescued from the suspect, while one of them, four-year-old Nofisat Mubo, was later found dead at Orile Iganmu on the Lagos Mainland.

The statement explained that the suspect who was the complainant’s second wife had accosted the children on their way back to the house and kidnapped them.

“The police arrested Akanni with one of the missing children at CMS Bus Stop. The said Akanni is the second wife of the complainant.

“Investigation revealed that the corpse of the other child was recovered at Orile Division in a sudden and unnatural death case,’’ it said.

The statement quoted Nwosu as saying that the suspect confessed to have drowned and dropped the corpse of Nofisat at Orile.

“The suspect confessed to have drowned the child and dropped the corpse at Orile on her arrest,’’ it added.

The statement said that the case had been transferred to the Orile Iganmu Police Division for synchronisation and further action. (NAN)
