Owerri—The 22nd edition of the Nigeria Media Merit Award, NMMA, the biggest annual media excellence event in Nigeria and Africa, will take place in Owerri, Imo State, between Friday October, 31 and Sunday, November 2, 2014.
The event is being hosted by public and private sectors of Imo State, led by Governor Rochas Okorocha.
The programme, which has become the highest focus of media institutions and professionals for recognition and acknowledgement of excellent achievements in the industry, is already gathering momentum.
It will be attended by the best of media professionals, veterans and chief executives for a 3 day grand event in Owerri, Imo State.
The highlight of the event would be the Grand Presentation Award ceremony on Saturday, November 1, 2014, where winners would emerge from the over 150 outstanding media professionals who have been nominated for the 53 categories of NMMA awards in 2014.
Other activities lined up for the event is the Media Leaders Roundtable to be chaired by the Imo State Governor where special papers would be delivered by veteran media professionals and academics on ‘FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT: The role of media in reporting issues of national interest’.
Among events scheduled for the NMMA 2014, is the Nite of tribute to media leaders who passed on recently and other departed media icons; the media tour across Imo State by media practitioners to witness the developmental projects on-going by the State Governor and other interesting activities.
Speaking, Chairman, NMMA Board of Trustees, Vincent Maduka, expressed his optimism about the successful hosting of the NMMA 2014 in Imo State.
